Department Procedures

  1. Observe the timeline sent by the Provost's Office and require dissertation-stage students to strictly follow the timeline for their dissertation defense and submission.
  2. Use the GS8 form (PhD Dissertation and Oral Defense Registration Form) to register the students for their defense
  3. The department sends a completed copy of the form to the Registrar's Office.
  4. Students address the PhD Dissertation Committee's comments in their dissertation drafts.
  5. When the committee is satisfied with the draft, they approve the final version of the dissertation.
  6. The committee signs the GS9 form and submits it to the Registrar's Office.
  7. The students are asked to submit their dissertation and signed GS9 form electronically to Scholarly Commons by the stated deadline.
