Scholarly Communication at ERAU

Getting Started

We highly suggest that you consult with a Scholarly Communication team member to help devise a data plan and workflow to best suit your content.  Please contact us at dbcommon@erau.edu. 

1. Login to Data Commons with your ERAU login using the "Sign In/Register" option
   • Select Sign in via your institution, and find Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University).
     • NOTE: Do not click on the institution option for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Hunt Memorial Library.
   • Use your normal ERAU login to sign in.  
     • If you have not logged in before, you may be asked to log into your Elsevier account.  Once you have done so, it should link the accounts together and you should not need to sign in twice going forward.
     • Note: If you have a prior Mendelay Data login, do not use it for logging into Data Commons.  If you do so, it will take you out of Embry-Riddle's network and into the general Mendaley Data site.
2. Once logged in, select Create new dataset.
   • To create a new dataset, at minimum, you will need to these items: 
     • Title
     • Description of the data set
     • At least 1 contributor (yourself)
3. Upload data now, or over time.  The system will auto-save your work as you update your dataset.
4. Publish your dataset.
   • To publish, all Required Fields must be completed.
   • All datasets go through moderation by the Scholarly Communication team before publishing to help meet FAIR standards.
