Undergraduate Publishing

Advanced Journal of Graduate Research is a journal that gives the opportunity to publish faculty-mentored research work carried out by Undergraduate (Bachelor Degree) and Postgraduate (Master Degree) students in the fields of Science & Technology.

This peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal is published annually in the spring semester by Columbia University, with life sciences, physical sciences, and social sciences featured. Any currently enrolled undergraduate is welcome to submit their work.

Consilience: The Journal of Sustainable Development is an online journal dedicated to promoting dialogue on sustainable development by bringing students, researchers, professors, and practitioners from a variety of disciplines and geographical regions in direct conversation with each other through an online, academically rigorous medium. Consilience publishes a range of academic material including scholarly articles, opinion pieces, field notes, and photo essays.

The Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science (DUJS) aims to increase scientific awareness within the Dartmouth community by providing an interdisciplinary forum for sharing undergraduate research and enriching scientific knowledge. The DUJS prints quarterly journals that include science news and review articles, along with research by undergraduates.

Started with a grant from the NSF, EvoS Journal: The Journal of the Evolutionary Studies Consortium is a journal designed to promote the education of evolutionary theory in colleges and universities. As an outlet for academic articles, EvoS Journal has two particular aims. The first is to publish peer-reviewed articles related to evolutionary theory in higher education. The second is to publish undergraduate peer-reviewed articles that have arisen from courses offered through Evolutionary Studies Programs.

Fine Focus is a web and print journal dedicated to showcasing the research of undergraduate students, internationally, in all fields of microbiology. This includes works in all microbiological specialties and microbiology education. Fine Focus is managed entirely by undergraduate students from production to print.

Illumin is an online magazine dedicated to exploring the science and technology behind the things we encounter every day. Produced and published by the Engineering Writing Program at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, Illumin features the work of USC undergraduate engineers along with submissions from universities across the nation.

Hosted by Appalachian State University, IMPULSE, an online journal for undergraduate research in the neurosciences, encourages undergraduate students from every institution to compose quality research articles. IMPULSE is the perfect outlet for undergraduates to engage in the process of writing and publishing and to become familiar with the complete process of scientific publication.

The primary aim of the International Journal of Exercise Science (IJES) is to engage undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activity as authors and reviewers as they develop into professionals. The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following sub-disciplines: biomechanics and neural control, cardiovascular physiology and metabolism, clinical exercise physiology, fitness assessment, metabolism and nutrition, physical therapy and athletic training, sport psychology and behavior, and sports science.
In accordance with this aim, on manuscript submissions it is mandatory that at least one author be a student that has played a prominent role in the overall study.

Intersect is an international Science, Technology, and Society research journal run by undergraduate students at Stanford University and supported by the Program in STS at Stanford. The journal's submissions are not exclusive to Stanford affiliates and generally span several continents.

Involve showcases and encourages high-quality mathematical research involving students from all academic levels. The editorial board consists of mathematical scientists committed to nurturing student participation in research. Submissions in all mathematical areas are encouraged.

The Journal of Science and Health at The University of Alabama (JOSHUA) is an undergraduate research journal. Undergraduate students from other institutions may submit; however, priority will be given to those who conducted their research at UA.

Hosted by Westmont College, the Journal of Undergraduate Chemistry Research is a peer reviewed journal published quarterly with papers of original research by undergraduate students in chemistry, including analytical, organic, inorganic, physical, polymers, and biochemistry.

The Journal of Undergraduate Reports in Physics (JURP) is a peer-reviewed publication of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) comprised of research, outreach, and scholarly reporting. The journal is devoted to reports authored by undergraduates in physics, astronomy, and their related fields. All current SPS members in good standing with the SPS National organization are eligible to submit to JURP.

The Journal of Young Investigators (JYI) is a student-led initiative to broaden the undergraduate scientific experience, allowing students to participate in the scientific review and publication processes of its peer-reviewed undergraduate journal. JYI is dedicated to representing undergraduate research in biological/biomedical sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and engineering, psychology and social sciences. Anyone who has written a manuscript during his or her undergraduate studies is welcome to submit.

The Mathematics Exchange is a journal for undergraduate research in the mathematical sciences. It is a forum for student activities which are not necessarily original research but go beyond standard classroom material. The journal accepts articles of interest to all types of mathematics undergraduates (e.g., pure, applied, actuarial, and education).

The McGill Journal of Medicine (MJM), is an international, peer-reviewed publication run entirely by the medical and science students of McGill University. The MJM's mandate is to provide students with the opportunity to publish on all aspects of medicine and to open up dialogue on a variety of medical issues including education, practice and research. The nature of the administration of the MJM makes it particularly sympathetic to contributions from students who are just beginning their careers in the medical and scientific fields.

Sponsored by the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Journal of Undergraduate Mathematics focuses on original mathematical research done primarily by undergraduate researchers in all areas of mathematics and its applications.

Neurogenesis is an undergraduate journal of neuroscience based out of Duke University. Its goal is to promote academic conversations between the different discipline of neuroscience and demonstrate the breath and depth of undergraduate work. It features everything from opinions, to reviews, to original research. The journal accepts submissions from all undergraduate institutions.

The Penn Bioethics Journal (PBJ) is the premier peer-reviewed undergraduate bioethics journal. The Journal provides a venue for undergraduates to make contributions to the field of bioethics. Embracing the interdisciplinary nature of bioethics, PBJ reviews and publishes original work addressing debates in medicine, technology, philosophy, public policy, law, theology, and ethics, among other disciplines.

Sponsored by the Mathematics Department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal is devoted entirely to papers written by undergraduates on topics related to the mathematical sciences. Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in the journal provided that all authors of the article were undergraduates or high school students when the work described in the article was completed.

Published by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), SIAM Undergraduate Research Online is a web-based publication devoted to undergraduate research in applied and computational mathematics. The publication represents a wide range of applied topics, including but not limited to, analysis, discrete mathematics, statistics, operations research, optimization, dynamical systems, modeling, and computation. Typical areas of application include but are not limited to, physical, life, financial, and management sciences and engineering.

Spora: A Journal of Biomathematics is a refereed research journal dedicated to fostering the development of future scientists and scholars and advancing the field of study in biomathematics.

Hosted by the University of South Florida, the open access Undergraduate Journal of Mathematical Modeling: One + Two (UJMM) is concerned with various applications of mathematics done by non-mathematics majors. In particular, its purpose is to disseminate selected applied mathematics projects of engineering and science students. Undergraduate engineering and science students who have completed an interdisciplinary project involving mathematics applications can submit to UJMM.
