Portfolio How To

A guide to help faculty set up, modify, and maintain their Portfolio pages.

Maintaining Your Profile

Once your profile is set up initially, Portfolio has tools to help you easily keep your profile up-to-date.  We are also exploring integrations with other ERAU systems to further automate and reduce the amount of updates needed.

Automated Searches

You can set up automated searches so any new citations, or updates to existing citations, can be automatically brought into your profile for review.  Automated searches run every 7 days, and can be set up from your personal dashboard.  When your profile is set up, the library will enable automatic searches from Scopus, Digital Commons (our repository system), and arXiv.  You are free to enable additional searches that make sense for your work.

Go to your personal dashboard, and select the Edit profile option under your profile image.  In the left-hand menu of the pop-up editor window, you will find Automated search as an option.

From the Automated search screen, you will see:

  • Information on how often searches are conducted, and the scope of them
  • A checkbox to request emails when new candidates are found
  • A list of online sources that you can enable for searches.

Each search source requires different information to run the search.  If the source uses an ID number, and the ID is already in your profile, it will autopopulate.  If it uses name variants, you will have the ability to add suggested and additional search names when enabling.  Note: not every database allows for automatic searching.  There are additional databases you can pull from by going to Add New > Research Output > Import for Online Source.

Tasks

On your Personal Dashboard, there is a section for active tasks.  If a candidate has been identified during an automated search, it will appear as a task.Add content and tasks list on Portfolio

Other actions in the system can also be set up as a task.  In the upper right of the top menu bar, you will see a person icon followed by your email.  Selecting this icon will open your user settings.  From here you can modify what actions will trigger an email, message, or task that you will see in your dashboard.
