Conducting a literature review is a vital part of any research.  Discovering the current state of knowledge for your topic will help you determine where your research fits. Checklist for your Literature Review

Have you done the following?

Outline: Clearly outlined the purpose of your review?  What about the context? Scope (limitations)? Audience?

Sources: Found and evaluated technical, credible, peer-reviewed sources to synthesize and focus into your research?

Citation: Integrated these sources with bibliographic detail that adheres to a citation style?

Sources: Analyzed/Critiqued sources as they pertain to the discussion at hand?

Literature: Identified gaps in the literature and research? Strengths? Weaknesses? Themes?

Connections: Made connections between your sources?

Information: Have you looked at pertinent info, such as methodologies/ theories/ models?

Viewpoints: Discussed the varying viewpoints, controversial findings, etc?

Writing: Written an introduction, body, and conclusion?

Proof-read: Checked the spelling and grammar?
