SPAC 511 - Earth Observation and Remote Sensing

Research Mission

The primary activity for this course is planning a research mission focusing on a specific global problem. As the mission planner, students will provide an informed design of a system concept dedicated to helping solve or at least manage one of the global problems facing the Earth.

Problem Examples:

  • Supporting Mars Space colony development and operation 
  • Climate change
  • Loss of Farmland
  • Deforestation
  • Detection of hazardous asteroids
  • Depletion of the ozone layer
  • Orbital Debris management include removal
