Companies can be searched by company name or ticker symbol (symbol used in stock exchanges).
Mergent Online searches U.S. and International public companies by default. To include private companies (i.e., companies under private ownership that are not publicly traded on stock exchanges), check the box next to D&B Private Company Database. To search only for private companies, use the D&B 20 Million Plus Private Company Search option.
