In addition to the checklist, other easy ways to verify the validity of a news source include:
- Check to see if other sources are reporting on the same story
- Check the URL. Sites ending in a .com.co are often fake news trying to look like a real site
- Use a fact-checking site
- Consider installing a plugin on your browser to flag fake news
