EAGLEsearch Help

This guide will help with creating your search, filtering your results, and saving your searches for later in EAGLEsearch.

Finding Videos in EAGLEsearch

Searching for videos in EAGLEsearch allows users to search both our physical collection (videos cataloged in our library catalog), as well as those videos located in our subscription databases (i.e. Academic Video Online, Films On Demand, etc.).

Each video on the results page will provide a title, author (personal or group/organizational), date, partial abstract (if available), content type and location.  To view additional information about the video such as publisher, date, genre, subjects, etc., hover over the link.

Content Type
Searching for videos in EAGLEsearch will limit your results to those listed simply as Video Recording or Streaming Video.

Item Locations
Any videos listed in the search results of a videos search will provide one of the following locations (to the right of the content type):

  • Full Text Online
  • Citation Online
  • Check Availability

Full Text Online will link to the electronic (streaming) version of that video in one of our research databases or on the publisher's website. In some cases, it may link to a record of that item in our library catalog, which should provide a link to the streaming version of that video.

Citation Online only provides the citation for that video and not the full text (streaming version); however, that does not mean we may not have access to the video elsewhere.  Please contact Ask a Librarian for assistance in trying to obtain it.

Check Availability are for videos from our physical collection (DVD or VHS)  that have been given a call number (i.e. UG1242.D7 R56 2013 DVD) location and that are located in the Hunt Library, or for specific streaming videos available in our research databases (i.e. Online Resource (VAST)that have been cataloged in our library catalog and provide a link to the streaming version of that video. Selecting the title link in EAGLEsearch will take you to the record of that item in the library catalog and provide more information about it.
