For aviation investigations before 2008, search using the NTSB Aviation Accident Database & Synopses database.
Search Tips
- To begin your search, select Investigations or Recommendations.
- Fill in any specifics you are looking for in the search form, for example, Aircraft category in the Aviation Investigation Fields column, and click Search.
- For additional search options, including Engine type, Airport ID, and more, click the Custom Search link at the top of the page and select using the Field drop-down menu.
- Multiple fields can be added using the Add Rule feature.
- To search by keyword, from the Custom Search page:
- Click Field.
- Hover your mouse cursor over Common Investigation fields and then Other. Select Finding text.
- Type keywords into the Query value field.
- Click Add Rule.
- Click Search.
- NTSB Safety Recommendations are searchable by safety recommendation number, recommendation text, and addressee name.
- For help using and searching in the database, click on Help near the upper right corner of the screen.
