Search Tips

• To perform a simple keyword search, click the magnifying glass icon in the upper left corner of the home page to open the Search box, enter the desired terms, and press the Enter key.
• Use an asterisk (*) at the end of the root of a word to find all variants: fuel* will find fuels, fueling, etc.
• Enclose terms in quotation marks to search for exact phrases: “alternative fuels”
• Click the NEWS tab in the menu bar to limit general news articles by category, date, location, and article type. (If the Search box is open, click the upward arrow to close it and reveal the News and other tabs.)
• Click the COMPANIES tab to locate company profiles for airlines, airports, and MRO providers.
• Click the INDUSTRY UPDATES tab to limit industry news articles by category and date.
• Click the FLEETS tab to locate fleet data by market groupings (i.e., type of aircraft), manufacturer, and geographic location.
• Click the REPORTS tab for full-text reports on various topics, as well as issues of the trade publications Airline Business and Flight International.

Good to Know

• Limited to one user at a time. Please click the Sign out button when finished.
• Not all air carriers or airports are ICAO members. You may not find data for every air carrier and airport in the database.
• From within each data table, click the printer icon to print or the Excel icon to download the data to Excel format.

Search Tips

• Click the Modules link near the top center of the page to access the subscribed Data+ modules.
• The subscribed Data+ modules include:

• Click the Launch button next to the module you wish to view.
• From within each data table, click the Reset button to undo your selections.
• For help using and searching in the database, click the FAQ link at the top right or center bottom of any page. 
  
  • Be sure to click and explore the different headings at the top of the FAQ section, such as Data, Carrier Traffic, TFS, etc.
  • From the FAQ section, scroll down and click the Glossary button for detailed definitions of specialized terms used in the database.
  • To view the data sources and dates covered, from the FAQ section, scroll down and click the ICAO Data Notes button.

For aviation investigations before 2008, search using the NTSB Aviation Accident Database & Synopses database.

Search Tips

• To begin your search, select Investigations or Recommendations.
• Fill in any specifics you are looking for in the search form, for example, Aircraft category in the Aviation Investigation Fields column, and click Search.
• For additional search options, including Engine type, Airport ID, and more, click the Custom Search link at the top of the page and select using the Field drop-down menu.
  
  • Multiple fields can be added using the Add Rule feature.
  • To search by keyword, from the Custom Search page:
    • Click Field.
    • Hover your mouse cursor over Common Investigation fields and then Other. Select Finding text.
    • Type keywords into the Query value field.
    • Click Add Rule.
    • Click Search.
• NTSB Safety Recommendations are searchable by safety recommendation number, recommendation text, and addressee name.
• For help using and searching in the database, click on Help near the upper right corner of the screen.
